Coraline

Went and saw "Coraline" at the movies last night. It was a typical Tim Burton film. Yet, not. I will admit that when it comes to Burton's films, I either love them or hate them. This was the first to fall inbetween. I would definitely say I liked it ... especially since it was shown in 3D (beware the glasses make everyone look like Buddy Holly). But there was about 15 to 20 minutes, about 2/3 of the way into the movie, that just dragged. Ultimately that was what put it into the "liked it" column, rather than the "loved it" column. I would recommend that if you go see it in 3D, stay until the very end of the credits. You'll understand why when you go.

The Best Frakking Show on TV

If you don't know what the title means, then you haven't been watching Battlestar Galactica.  The show is in the final stretch before signing off for good.  The final episodes have been a welcome return to the raw feeling and intensity of the first season.  Last night's episode "Blood on the Scales" was an incredible end (or was it ...) to the Zarek/Gaeta coup.  Roslin is the president we all wish we had.  And thanks to the gods of Kobol that Lee dropped the wishy-washy politician act and became the soldier he used to be, fighting alongside Starbuck (where he truly belongs).

Memory Lane: Toad the Wet Sprocket

So sitting here updating my Moodle pages and hit the party shuffle on iTunes. One of my favourite bands from high school came up ~ Toad the Wet Sprocket. Awesome example of early 90's alt rock. Check them out if you haven't heard their music:

Burn Notice

Another one of my favourite TV shows is back ...

Dating myself here, but when I was younger, I loved Miami Vice. The action, the Miami background ... it was good TV escapism. Burn Notice is just an updated, smarter version with one of the all-time best cult actors, Bruce Campbell.

You can check out the 2 latest episodes on Hulu.com (really one of the internet's best time wasters).
